Goals – 4/7/08
As I mentioned previously, part of the reason I started this blog is to have a place to write down my goals in an effort to make my improvement a little more concrete. So! Here we go.
BJJ:
-Hit a sweep from spider guard.
-Hit a sweep from half guard.
-Watch Rigan Machado’s half guard DVD a few times.
Exercise:
-Finalize the routine.
-Don’t skip anything.
Striking
-Throw full combos in sparring, especially if I go up against that weird white guy.
-Finish a combo in sparring with a hook to the body.
Other
-Train at least four days this week.
-Heal my toe.

Welcome!
I’m sitting at home today, out of commission due to a badly stubbed (to the point of bleeding) big toe, so I thought I’d finally start that training weblog I had been thinking about doing for some time now.
This blog is going to be kind of bipolar for a little while, because I intend to use it both as a personal training and dietary journal, and a space to publish pieces that I’d like to use for more professional uses – gear and equipment reviews, articles on sport-specific training, and articles on fitness and nutrition. I do not intend for this blog to cater to testosterone addicts or backyard champions, and over the next few weeks I hope to write on exactly what it is that motivated me to start it. Suffice to say for now that the name and the subtitle – “MMA Life” and “Training to live” are indicative of my philosophy towards combat sports and personal growth.
