Training Journal 4.22.08
Ugh. So. Tired.
Didn’t sleep well last night, but somehow managed to get enough Z’s in to get a decent morning workout – a Tabata set (20 seconds max effort, 10 seconds rest) of Hindu pushups, a Tabata set of bodyweight squats, and a Tabata set of high knees waterbottle press. Not as heavy as yesterday, but my upper body sure as hell felt it. Hopefully I’ll get some good sleep in tonight and wake up tomorrow with a bit more energy.
BJJ went well. Amazon taught technique tonight – a guard pass series that you can do from open guard or butterfly guard, where you get one of your opponent’s legs between yours and grab the pants and pull towards you to flatten it out, reach under their other leg and grab the gi tight to control, and then walk around and switch your hips to shake the first leg’s hook and go into side control. He also taught a few sweeps against that same pass (mostly at the point where you switch hips), and his favorite knee-on-stomach-and-throat-reverse-armbar. Blech, I hate that one. Got some good rolling in tonight, too, which is odd for Tuesdays (usually all the really good guys are doing no-gi), and ended up getting plenty smashed around. Wooooo.
